Papilloma type

Each type of HPV causes its own type of papilloma. They differ in external form and place of appearance. Have a low or high level of oncogenic. Papillomas are a consequence of the HPV virus. Sometimes skin neoplasms appear on human skin in completely different places with some common symptoms. They have one common name - papillomas. They differ from each other in shape, structure, location on the body, degree of oncogenic hazard. Depending on these factors, papillomas have their own special names. What are papillomas and why do they appear?

What are papillomas?

"A tumor in the form of a papilla", this is how the term papilloma is translated from Latin. These growths on the skin appear due to the HPV virus. Any papilloma is a benign neoplasm, however, depending on the type (type) of the papillomavirus, they have an oncogenic risk.

Types of papillomas according to oncogenic risk:

  1. Low oncogenic risk.
  2. High oncogenic risk.

The second group includes strains - 82, 73, 68, 59, 58, 56, 52, 51, 45, 39, 35, 33, 31, 18, 16. The growths on the skin can be very different in color. The color scheme of papillomas can be from light to almost black. Sometimes elongated papillomas grow on the body, other types of HPV have a flat shape or, on the contrary, grow too high, resembling a cock's comb.

Only a doctor can determine the nature of the papillomavirus by carrying out the necessary diagnostics:

  • visual examination of the patient;
  • take a test to identify the type of virus.

The virus enters the body under favorable conditions for it. You must come into contact with a carrier of the virus or with contaminated objects and your immunity must be weakened.

Usually HPV is easily blocked by the immune system, there are several reasons why it fails:

  • long-term treatment;
  • exacerbation of chronic diseases;
  • drug use;
  • excessive use of alcohol and cigarettes.

Any kind of this disease requires timely treatment. Papillomas on the body are characterized by unpleasant growths and sometimes mutate into oncological diseases. Visiting a doctor is a necessary precaution.

Simple (vulgar) papillomas

This is the most common type of papilloma on the body. People call them warts, they appear gradually. First, small tubercles grow on the skin. Gradually, it increases in diameter and changes color from pale flesh to a more saturated brown. The structure of vulgar papillomas also changes, they become hard, keratinization appears.

vulgar papilloma

Papilloma vulgaris is more often located in:

  • Palm;
  • finger;
  • the skin between the fingers
  • knee;
  • sometimes they form on the face, back, neck

Such neoplasms may occur in groups. First, "mother papillomas" appear, and after them, daughter growths are formed.

Children and adolescents are especially susceptible to this type of HPV. Vulgar papillomas are usually benign, do not degenerate into oncological formations. Strains 75-77, 26-29, 41, 38, 49, 57, 65 are responsible for the appearance of these neoplasms.

For simple types of viruses on the body including plantar warts. The name refers to the place where they appear. The growths on the sole grow independently, identifiable by the characteristic protruding rim. It usually doesn't cause discomfort, but sometimes it can interfere with walking. In order not to confuse corns and plantar warts, remember that corns have a smooth, even surface where the skin pattern appears. Plantar warts are caused by strains 1-4.

Both those and others can be easily removed in a medical clinic. But do not rush to the doctor, such growths can go away on their own.

flat papilloma

flat papillomas on the face

This growth is immediately different from other skin neoplasms.

It rises slightly above the skin, if you look closely, you can see that its seemingly solid surface seems to be made up of small nodules. Flat warts do not have a predefined shape, they can be with jagged edges or, conversely, rounded.

Flat papillomas do not undergo the process of keratinization (death and keratinization of skin cells), and therefore do not have the skin grooves that are typical of other types of papillomas.

The color of such buildup is usually light, sometimes it darkens and turns brown. Flat papillomas should never be dark brown.

Location:

hand papilloma examination
  • shinbone;
  • arm;
  • return;
  • on the face appears on the cheeks, around the eyes and on the chin.

Flat neoplasms are immediately visible to outsiders (if they are in an open place). In addition to visual ugliness, they cause physical discomfort in the form of itching. When you try to scratch them, they start to "burn".

Such formations must be shown to a dermatologist. You are unlikely to prescribe the right treatment for yourself. The doctor must examine you, make a diagnosis and, taking into account all physical characteristics, prescribe treatment. Such growths are easier to remove as soon as they appear. Old growths must be removed surgically. Flat papillomas cause viruses types 49, 28, 10.

Spiky papillomas (warts)

They have a distinctive appearance, which makes them not to be confused with other types of papillomavirus. Outwardly, such papillomas can be compared with "cauliflower" or "cock's comb". Condylomas are attached to the skin and grow on short stalks. They are solitary and grow into large groups. Such HPV neoplasms in women can reach large sizes.

The color of the growth varies depending on where it appears. Condylomas can be white, fleshy, pale pink, and range in color from pink to maroon. Sometimes such growths emit a liquid with a fetid odor.

Genital warts are often injured due to a specific location.

The main localization of genital warts:

  1. Sex organs.
  2. anal area.
  3. Crotch.
  4. urethra
  5. Vagina and cervix in women.

Such human papillomavirus is only sexually transmitted. Its development provokes viruses 69, 55, 54, 51, 44, 42, 6, 1

If left untreated, pre-oncological conditions can develop. The virus accumulates in the tissues near growths and changes the DNA composition of the epithelium and mucous membranes, which leads to oncology of the penis in men and cervical cancer in women. Genital warts must be removed.

filiform papilloma

They are also called acrochords. They mostly grow singly, but groups of acrochords are also found. If it is accidentally torn off, a new process will reappear in its place, moreover, the growths can wander around the body, growing. They don't give pain.

papillomas on the eyelids

There is more aesthetic resistance to buildup, especially if papillomas grow on the face. The color ranges from flesh tones to browns. The acrochord is oval and elastic, sometimes there are keratin papillomas.

Favorite places of appearance of areas of the body with smooth skin:

  • face (eyelid area, nose);
  • inguinal folds;
  • on the neck;
  • armpit;
  • under the breast (in women).

If an acrochord appears on the face, scrubs and brushes should not be used so as not to injure it. Underarm growths are often injured by razors.

It is better to visit a doctor and remove the neoplasm in the clinic to avoid infection and degeneration of the disease into oncology. The latter is rare with filiform papillomas.

pointed papillomas

The viruses that cause this type of HPV are strains 2 and 7. Acrochord is more common in older people because the skin loses its elasticity over time.

Sometimes this disease affects children and adolescents.

This is the most common form of HPV. According to the information regarding the types of viruses, a preliminary diagnosis can be made by yourself. For a more accurate diagnosis, a medical examination is required.

Besides these forms of HPV, other types of papillomas also occur. For example, papillomatosis of the larynx, choroidal papilloma (growing in the brain), papilloma in the stomach is called gastric papillitis. Internal papillomas are the most dangerous, sometimes patients go to the doctor with an advanced stage of HPV. You can die from an internal neoplasm. For example, growths in the larynx interfere with breathing and can cause asphyxia. Any HPV disease requires immediate medical attention.
